Experience Rwanda

Track endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, take in lush landscapes, and witness firsthand the healing and strength of the Rwandan people.

  • Parc National des Volcans: Track mountain gorillas in the misty forest that is home to 480 of the remaining 880 mountain gorillas in the wild. Visit the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project’s Gorilla Doctors. Track the little-known golden monkeys, whose only viable population is found in Rwanda.

  • Kigali: Delve into Rwanda’s past and present in its bustling capital city. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Hotel des Mille Collines, Nyamata Church Memorial, and a UN Millennium Villages Project.

  • Nyungwe Forest National Park: Venture into the lush forest on foot to track 13 different primate species, including chimpanzees, in their natural environment.

Best Time to Travel

For the best weather conditions, especially for gorilla tracking, we recommend traveling to Rwanda from June to September, and December to February. We do not recommend traveling in April or May, as this time of year is particularly rainy and can make gorilla tracking challenging.
