Day 1: Arusha, Tanzania
Arrive in Arusha.

Day 2: Arusha / Tarangire National Park
Travel to Tarangire National Park, known for its iconic baobab trees and high concentration of elephants. Embark on your first game drive this afternoon, keeping an eye out for leopards that rest by day in the shady trees.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park
Set out on a guided walking safari for a rare chance to track elephant and other wildlife on foot. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, looking for lion, Cape buffalo, and lesser and greater kudu.

Day 4: Tarangire National Park / Ngorongoro Crater
Travel to the Ngorongoro Crater located in the heart of the “Land of the Maasai.” Visit a local Maasai village and learn about their fascinating way of life. The Maasai are a pastoral semi-nomadic tribe living in Tanzania and Kenya, recognizable by their brightly colored clothing and beautifully beaded jewelry.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
Descend 2,000 feet to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater where volcanic slopes shelter almost 30,000 animals. At any time, you may see elephant, rhino, cheetah, lion, hippo, and wildebeest.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater / Serengeti National Park
Fly to the northern Serengeti and head out on safari to look for the “big five”— rhino, lion, leopard, elephant, and Cape buffalo—in this beautiful area.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park
Embark on morning and afternoon game drives in this famous park. Look for massive herds of zebra and wildebeest, and spot crocodiles in the Mara River.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park / Kigali, Rwanda
Enjoy one last game drive in the Serengeti before flying to Kigali, one of the most thriving and progressive capital cities in Africa.

Day 9: Kigali / Parc National de Volcans
Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, where a poignant exhibition recalls Rwanda's mid-1990s genocide and testifies to the country’s remarkable resilience. Enjoy lunch at the legendary Hotel des Mille Collines—featured in the movie Hotel Rwanda—where more than a thousand Rwandans found safe haven during the genocide. Drive to Parc National des Volcans. This evening, watch a performance of traditional Rwandan dances by a local dance troupe.

Day 10: Parc National de Volcans
Spend the day tracking mountain gorillas in the forested hills of Parc National des Volcans. Sit among these gentle giants viewing one of the planet’s most endangered creatures from an awe-inspiring, up close perspective.

Day 11: Parc National de Volcans
Spend the morning tracking endangered golden monkeys through bamboo forests. Visit the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project (MGVP), which provides lifesaving veterinary care to gorillas in their natural habitat.

Day 12: Parc National des Volcans / Kigali / Depart for Home
Visit a local school and meet school children in their classrooms. Return to Kigali and depart for home.
